Some of the most common NPK mixes

10-10-10 (Balanced Fertilizer)

  • N-P-K Ratio: 10% Nitrogen, 10% Phosphorus, 10% Potassium.
  • Use: A general-purpose fertilizer used for overall plant health, suitable for most garden plants and lawns. It promotes balanced growth, helping plants develop strong roots, healthy foliage, and flowers.

20-20-20 (All-Purpose Fertilizer)

  • N-P-K Ratio: 20% Nitrogen, 20% Phosphorus, 20% Potassium.
  • Use: This fertilizer is another balanced option but with higher concentrations. It is used for plants that need a higher nutrient boost, especially in their growth phases, providing energy for root development, flowering, and fruiting.

5-10-5 (Starter Fertilizer)

  • N-P-K Ratio: 5% Nitrogen, 10% Phosphorus, 5% Potassium.
  • Use: Ideal for new plantings, as the higher phosphorus content supports root development. It is commonly used in the early stages of plant growth, for seeds, or for transplanting seedlings.

15-30-15 (Bloom Booster)

  • N-P-K Ratio: 15% Nitrogen, 30% Phosphorus, 15% Potassium.
  • Use: Specifically formulated to promote flowering and fruit production, this fertilizer is often used in flowering plants and vegetables like tomatoes. The high phosphorus encourages abundant blooms and strong root systems.

16-4-8 (Lawn Fertilizer)

  • N-P-K Ratio: 16% Nitrogen, 4% Phosphorus, 8% Potassium.
  • Use: Primarily used for lawns, where high nitrogen promotes lush, green growth. The smaller amounts of phosphorus and potassium support root strength and disease resistance without encouraging excessive root or flower growth.
