Hortus was established in 2005 by three partners, each bringing their own valuable skills and knowledge to the company. This collaboration allowed them to integrate the best practices from both aspects right from the start. Willem, Richard, and Nico are the founders of the company as it exists today.
Since the beginning, Hortus has brought together the perspectives of both growers and suppliers.
Richard Heemskerk, coming from a family of growers, and Nico van der Spek, working as a supplier, with firsthand farming experience, identified key areas for improvement in their industry during their daily work. After nearly two decades, Hortus has grown to a team of over 30 professionals operating worldwide, serving customers on every continent in more than 25 countries. We serve a diverse range of customers including growers of flowers, vegetables, open field crops, tree farms, and multiple distributors.
